Let's look at the entry-level road bike, the CAAD8 (Cannondale Advanced Aluminum Design) road bike. It is designed with S.A.V.E (Synapse Active Vibration Elimination)technology to provide a basic and forgivable ride. It has many of its geometry features as the race-oriented CAAD10. However, it has a somewhat taller head tube that provides a more comfortable position for riding it also has asymmetric chain stays. This version is designed for the beginning riders or those with a little experience.
If you want to have a bike designed for extended travel and a complete mountain bike then the Claymorebike fits the bill. It uses the exclusive dual-mode Fox Dyad RT2 dual shock, to give it a quick change from a downhill bike to cross country cycling and climbing. A lever on the handlebar provides the rider the capability to switch the "flow" position to the "elevate position, a 110mm-travel, with a lower capacity shock, for the other varieties of riding. Riders of this bike have said that, "It has the ability to go from trail riding to rugged downhill by just hitting the lever".
If you are looking for a light mountain bike then the Flash Carbon 29er should be your choice. Cannondale says that their BallisTec carbon construction used in the frame makes it lighter and stiffer than aluminum and stronger than steel. The Carbon 3 version also has SRAM X7/X9, a Lefty 29er PBR fork and SUNRinglé EQ25 rims.
You also have an option with this bike of two versions of the shafts giving you the ability to changes from the 'firm-flex' or the 'soft-flex' to equal the trail conditions or the ability to chose the one you simply prefer. The post is detachable at the head, so you don't have to worry about the seat position when you change.
Then there is the Jekyll bike which has characteristics that are almost the same as the Claymore. In fact, it provides for interchangeable geometry and travel (150m/90mm) with a Fox Dyad shock. Two models with carbon fiber can also be gotten; the Jekyll Carbon 1 and 2. The Jekyll alloy has SRAM X7 derailers, X5 shifters and Avid Elixir brakes.
The great variety of Cannondale Bikes gives great options to almost any rider, regardless of skill level. The Cannondale company once again maintains their claim to being one of the industry leaders.
